“Toru” in Japanese means “through” and Nendo’s creative imagination transforms the handle of this unprecedented electric kettle into a spout that playfully runs through the steel volume of the body. An ironic yet intellectual approach to composition that softens the metal material without altering its sophisticated aura. Dedicated to those who seek high performance and durability in their home appliances, but also for fine materials and elegant lines. Nendo is a design firm based in Tokyo, Japan and Milan, Italy. Nendo designed the Olympic Altar for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Selected works that Nendo has participated in the design of are presented in museums around the world, such as MoMA in New York, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Victoria & Albert in London, etc. Nendo worked on the design of the French TGV high-speed train in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics and served as executive producer and designer of the Japan Pavilion for the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan.
